Description

Above left is a study of the bust of a young man with his head tilted and his left hand outstretched, and with his right hand only a little away from his elbow with his fingers partially contracted. On the right is a repetition of the left hand motif in a slightly different turn. Even lower is the study of a partially open palm with slightly shrunken fingers. The drawing is very picturesque and has softened transitions so that the light models very softly. It is after this “painterly” feature of light modeling, rather than line drawing, that this drawing is reliably attributed to the hand of Rihard Jakopič; the authorship is, of course, confirmed by other characteristics and especially the origin (Expert opinion on the artistic drawing of a Slovenian painter – JANEZ MESESNEL).

Unsigned. Certificate for artwork (GALLERY HEST).
