Ernst Karl Georg Zimmermann

(München, Germany, 1852 – München, Germany, 1901)

Ernst Karl Georg Zimmermann was a German painter who received his first art lessons from his father Reinhard Sebastian Zimmermann. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He painted some humorous genre paintings, but experienced its rise in 1879 with a painting of Christ in the temple (with special emphasis on the coloristic element, partly associated with the Venetians, partly with Antonio da Correggio). He was a royal professor and had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances (summarized from Wikipedia).
